Hello! Jackie here. I’m not usually very open about emotions or very good at discussing them, but I would like to get better at that, so here we go. I could try to explain all of the reasons that I am absolutely in love with the story of Bakemonogatari but that wouldn’t completely explain the experience for me.
Have you ever experienced something so profound you feel like it was meant specifically for you? Speaking directly to you? I have had this a few previous times and this is one of them.
This is an experience for me. Something I have a hard time coming up with words to do it and my experience justice. I think the best description I can give is that it deals with monsters.
These are not normal monsters, these are monsters within ourselves and others. These stories are about dealing with these monsters, asking for help, and deciding to repay that help with taking control of your situation.
This message is so personal to me on many levels. One of the characters and how they dealt with their situation has helped me personally in ways I don’t know if I could have figured out on my own or would have been able to see the solution so clearly.
Do any of you have these moments with books, movies, etc?
I really enjoyed reflecting on all of this over my quiet weekend spent in. I feel like I acquired a new perspective, or at the very least leveled up ;)
**disclaimer: This show is beautiful, powerful, and poignant. It also has my sense of humor, don’t be surprised at the sudden yet innocently perverted jokes made off-handed. They add to the experience ;)
